How to get to the meeting building

Once you get off the bus (red square on the map), continue along the road that the bus was on as it curves to the left up the hill (first yellow arrow on the map). Take your second right turn off of this road, which will take you under the PZ building (second yellow arrow on the map). There will be bike parking on your left. You will then see a grassy hill to your left with a zig-zag ramp and a set of stairs. At the top of the ramp/stairs is the ZT building (cyan square on the map). The meeting room is ZT702, which is just off the entry atrium, on your left before you get to the elevator.

General bus information

Lines 9A/9B and 11 go to the University (stop: Universität). Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver or via the ‘meinKN’ phone app (download this and set it up with your bank info beforehand). Single trips are €3.10 (or cheaper in the app for short routes), or you can buy a day pass (“Tagesticket”) for €6.10. If you are staying in a hotel or AirBnB you should be (hotel) or might be (AirBnB) charged a tourism tax which entitles you to use the bus for free for the duration of your stay. The hotel/AirBnB host should provide you with a pass in this case. You need not present the driver with your pass/ticket when you board, but the buses are subject to random ticket checks and there is a €60 fine for anyone not having a ticket. More about buses, including a general route plan, here: https://www.stadtwerke-konstanz.de/bus/aktuelles/

Transport by bike

Konstanz is a very bike-friendly town. There are red city bikes available for short-term rental via a smartphone app at various stations around town, including at the University (more info here: https://www.stadtwerke-konstanz.de/fahrrad/fahrradmietsystem/). Fair warning: the University is at the top of a hill, so be prepared for a climb!

Hotel recommendations

Students attending the Summer School are responsible for finding their own accommodation.

We can recommend all of the hotels listed below that are within a short walk of the 9A/9B bus line, which runs between the University and the Old Town. There are many other options not on this list!

Any hotel in the Old Town area will be accessible to the 9A/9B bus line. Options on the north side of the river may be more economical but will likely require a bus transfer to get to the University.
